Alice Hirson, born Alice C. Thorsell on March 10, 1929, in New York City, is an American actress best known for her roles on television. She began her career on stage, performing in off-Broadway productions before transitioning to daytime soap operas. Her journey in the entertainment industry has been long and illustrious, spanning over seven decades.

Her television career took off with appearances on classic anthology series such as Hallmark Hall of Fame and Starlight Theatre.

She became a regular cast member on the CBS daytime soap opera The Edge of Night from 1969 to 1970, playing the role of Stephanie Martin. She also played Marcia Davis on Another World and its spin-off Somerset from 1970 to 1972, and starred as Eileen Riley Siegel on ABC's One Life to Live from 1972 to 1976.

Her career in prime time television included a recurring role as Mavis Anderson, a friend and confidante of Miss Ellie Ewing, on the CBS prime time soap opera Dallas from 1982 to 1988.

She also played Lois Morgan, the mother of Ellen DeGeneres's character, on the ABC sitcom Ellen from 1994 to 1998. Her film debut came in the 1971 crime comedy The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight, and she appeared in movies such as Nightwing, Private Benjamin, Revenge of the Nerds, and The Glass House.

Alice Hirson met actor Stephen Elliott in 1964 while both were appearing on Broadway in Traveller Without Luggage. They married in 1980 and remained together until his death in 2005. Alice has two children from her previous marriage to Roger O. Hirson.
