Bebe Neuwirth

Bebe Neuwirth is an American actress, singer, and dancer who has made a significant impact in theater, television, and film. She was born on December 31, 1958, in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in Princeton. Her father, Lee Neuwirth, was a mathematician, and her mother, Sydney Anne, was a painter and amateur dancer. 

She developed a love for dance at a young age and began taking ballet lessons when she was five. She later attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she majored in dance and honed her skills.

Her career began on Broadway, where she made her debut in the musical "A Chorus Line" in 1980. She gained widespread recognition for her performances in "Sweet Charity" and "Chicago," winning Tony Awards for both. Her portrayal of Velma Kelly in "Chicago" remains one of her most iconic roles. 

In addition to her theater work, Bebe Neuwirth became well-known for her role as Dr. Lilith Sternin on the television series "Cheers" and its spin-off "Frasier." Her performance earned her two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She has also appeared in other television shows, including "Madam Secretary," "The Good Wife," and "Blue Bloods."

Her film career includes roles in movies such as "Jumanji," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Summer of Sam," and "Bugsy."

In her personal life, she has been married twice. Her first marriage was to theater director Paul Dorman, which ended in divorce. In 2009, she married Chris Calkins, the founder of a winery in Napa Valley. Bebe is known for her love of animals and has been actively involved in supporting animal welfare initiatives.

She does not have children but has often spoken about her close relationships with her family and friends.
