Bruce Lee - Wikibash

Bruce Lee, born as Lee Jun-fan on November 27, 1940, was a Hong Kong-American martial artist and actor. He is widely recognized as the most influential martial artist of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century.

His contribution to martial arts cinema and his role in changing the portrayal of Chinese people in American films are significant.

Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up in Hong Kong. His father, Lee Hoi Chuen, was a Hong Kong opera singer, and his mother's name was Grace Ho.

He began appearing in films as a child, often cast as a juvenile delinquent or street urchin. As a teenager, he learned kung fu for self-defense and also started dance lessons, which further refined his footwork and balance. In 1959, he moved to Seattle, where he finished high school and studied philosophy and drama at the University of Washington.

In Seattle, Bruce Lee opened his first martial arts school and later founded a second school in Oakland, California. It was during this time that he developed Jeet Kune Do, a blend of ancient kung fu, fencing, boxing, and philosophy, which he began teaching instead of traditional martial arts.

His martial arts prowess and his philosophy are credited with paving the way for the combat sport mixed martial arts (MMA).
