Cara Williams is best known for her role as Billy's Mother in the film "The Defiant Ones" (1958), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also starred in the CBS television series "Pete and Gladys" (1960-1962), where she played the character Gladys Porter, earning an Emmy Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy.
