Childish Gambino, born Donald McKinley Glover Jr. on September 25, 1983, is an American actor, rapper, singer, writer, comedian, director, and producer. He was born at Edwards Air Force Base in California and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. His parents, Beverly and Donald Glover Sr., served as foster parents for 14 years. He grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness and has two siblings, including his brother Stephen, who collaborates with him as a writer.

He attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated with a degree in Dramatic Writing. His career began when he was hired by Tina Fey to write for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock at the age of 23.

He gained fame for his role as Troy Barnes on the NBC sitcom Community from 2009 to 2014. From 2016 to 2022, he starred in the critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta, which he created and occasionally directed. For his work on Atlanta, he won two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

In addition to his acting career, he pursued music under the stage name Childish Gambino, a name generated from a Wu-Tang Clan name generator. He released several mixtapes independently before signing with Glassnote Records in 2011.

His debut studio album, Camp, was released in November 2011 to critical and commercial success. His second album, Because the Internet, was released in 2013 and included the hit single "3005." His third album, "Awaken, My Love!" featured the Grammy-winning single "Redbone." In 2018, his single "This Is America" won four Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

His film career includes roles in The Lazarus Effect, Magic Mike XXL, The Martian, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Solo: A Star Wars Story, where he played Lando Calrissian. He also provided the voice of adult Simba in the 2019 remake of The Lion King and starred in the short film Guava Island.

He is known for his private lifestyle. He has been in a long-term relationship with Michelle White since 2016, and the couple has three sons together. They prefer to keep their personal life out of the spotlight. In January 2024, he confirmed that he and White had married.
