Claudia Jessie Peyton, known professionally as Claudia Jessie, was born on October 30, 1989, in Moseley, Birmingham, England. She is an English actress best known for her roles in the BBC One police procedural WPC 56 and the Netflix period drama Bridgerton.

She grew up on a canal boat and spent part of her childhood on a council estate in North London. She was homeschooled from the age of 14 and returned to Birmingham when she was 17. Her family faced financial struggles, and her parents split up when she was young.

Her single mother, Dawn, worked cleaning houses to provide for her and her brother. Despite these challenges, her mother managed to afford ballet lessons for her at the Challis School of Dance.

She was discovered by student director Hannah Phillips, who cast her in several amateur productions. She trained part-time at the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School and spent a year studying with the Birmingham Library Theatre Company before signing with an agent in 2012.

Her first professional acting role was in a short film titled Rosie in 2012. She then appeared in the soap operas Doctors and Casualty and had a role in an episode of House of Anubis.

Between 2014 and 2016, Claudia Jessie starred in the BAFTA-winning CBBC Online web series Dixi as Shari. In 2015, she was cast as WPC Annie Taylor, the lead character in the third series of the BBC One television programme WPC 56.

She made her feature film debut as Doris in the 2016 war film Their Finest. In 2017, she starred as DC Jodie Taylor in series four of Line of Duty on BBC One and Lucy in the Dave sitcom Porters.

The following year, she played Amelia Sedley in the ITV miniseries adaptation of Vanity Fair. she also made a guest appearance in the Doctor Who episode "Kerblam!" in 2018. In 2020, she began playing Eloise, the fifth Bridgerton child, in the Netflix period drama Bridgerton, an adaptation of the Regency romance novels by Julia Quinn.

Claudia Jessie lives in Birmingham with her partner Cole Edwards, a casting editor whom she met at her Bridgerton audition. She is a vegan and meditates for at least an hour a day.

Her aunt introduced her to Nichiren Buddhism, and she has regularly practiced it since she was 17 for her mental health.

Despite her success, Claudia has not won any awards yet, but she has gained the attention of prestigious award bodies. She shared the 2015 British Soap Award nomination for Best Storyline with Simon Rivers and Julia Hills for her work in Doctors.

In 2021, Claudia shared the Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series with the Bridgerton cast.
