Cybill Lynne Shepherd was born on February 18, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, and she is an American actress, singer, and former model. She began her career as a model, winning the "Miss Teenage Memphis" title in 1966 and the "Model of the Year" contest in 1968.

Her striking looks caught the eye of film director Peter Bogdanovich, who cast her in her breakout role as Jacy Farrow in the critically acclaimed film "The Last Picture Show" (1971).

Her career continued to rise with roles in films such as "The Heartbreak Kid" (1972) and "Taxi Driver" (1976). She transitioned to television in the 1980s, starring opposite Bruce Willis in the popular detective comedy-drama "Moonlighting" (1985-1989), for which she won two Golden Globe Awards.

She later starred in her own sitcom, "Cybill" (1995-1998), winning a third Golden Globe Award for her performance.

Cybill Shepherd is also a singer and has released several albums. She has been an outspoken activist for various social causes, including gay rights and abortion rights.

She has written an autobiography titled "Cybill Disobedience: How I Survived Beauty Pageants, Elvis, Sex, Bruce Willis, Lies, Marriage, Motherhood, Hollywood, and the Irrepressible Urge to Say What I Think".
