Cynthia Nixon is an American actress, activist, and theater director who has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. She was born on April 9, 1966, in Manhattan, New York City. Her parents were Anne Elizabeth Knoll, an actress, and Walter Elmer Nixon Jr., a radio journalist. 

She grew up in a single-parent household after her parents divorced when she was young. Her mother played a major role in introducing her to the world of theater, which sparked her passion for acting.

Cynthia Nixon began her acting career at the age of 12 and quickly gained recognition for her talent. She made her Broadway debut in the 1980 revival of "The Philadelphia Story" and appeared in films like "Little Darlings" and "Amadeus." However, she is best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes in the popular HBO series "Sex and the City," which aired from 1998 to 2004.

Her portrayal of Miranda earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She reprised this role in the films "Sex and the City" and "Sex and the City 2," as well as in the television series "And Just Like That."

Cynthia is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has been vocal about her support for same-sex marriage. She is also a breast cancer survivor and has used her platform to raise awareness about early detection and treatment.

In addition to her acting career, Cynthia has been actively involved in activism and politics.
