Danielle Spencer was born on May 16, 1969, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and is the daughter of Australian songwriter, singer, and television entertainer Don Spencer and caterer Julie (née Horsfall) from Yorkshire. She began piano lessons at the age of four and grew up in both Australia and England as her father worked for the BBC Play School in both countries.

During her teens, she started acting and composing her own music. Danielle Spencer made her acting debut in the musical "Rasputin" in 1987, playing one of the Tsar's daughters. She continued to work primarily in Australian television from 1989 to 2000, appearing in various TV series. In 2001, she released her debut musical album, "White Monkey," and followed it up with "Calling All Magicians" in 2010.

Danielle Spencer has also given live concerts, including a tour titled "Alone and Together" in 2011, and participated in the 2012 season of "Dancing with the Stars," where she placed second.

She was a member of Australia's judging panel for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. She is a supporter of her father's charity, the Australian Children's Music Foundation, and women's cancer programs like the Pink Ribbon Breakfast for breast cancer.

She was married to actor Russell Crowe from 2003 to 2018, and they have two children together, Tennyson and Charles.
