Dee Wallace, born Deanna Bowers on December 14, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas, is an American actress best known for her role as Mary Taylor in the 1982 blockbuster "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial."

She gained a reputation as a "scream queen" for her performances in several horror films, including "The Hills Have Eyes" (1977), "The Howling" (1981), "Cujo" (1983), and "Critters" (1986). She attended the University of Kansas, where she earned an education degree and briefly taught high school drama before pursuing acting full-time.

Her career began on television, with appearances in shows like "The Streets of San Francisco," "Starsky & Hutch," and "Police Woman." Her breakthrough came with "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," which became the highest-grossing film of its time.
