DMX, born Earl Simmons on December 18, 1970, in Mount Vernon, New York, was an influential American rapper and actor. He grew up in a troubled environment, experiencing an abusive childhood that led him to live in children's homes and engage in criminal activities.

Despite these challenges, DMX found solace in music and began his career in the early 1990s. He signed with Ruff Ryders Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings, releasing his debut album, "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot," in 1998. The album was a commercial success, selling 251,000 units in its first week and featuring the hit single "Ruff Ryders' Anthem."

His aggressive rapping style and raw lyrics resonated with audiences, making him a prominent figure in hip-hop. His lifestyle was marked by his love for dogs, which he often incorporated into his music and imagery. He had a strong bond with his canine companions, even getting a tattoo of his former pet, Boomer, on his back.

Despite his tough exterior, DMX was known for his deep spirituality and often included religious themes in his songs. His personal life was tumultuous, with multiple legal issues and struggles with substance abuse. He was married to Tashera Simmons from 1999 to 2014, and they had four children together. He fathered a total of 15 children from various relationships.

Throughout his career, he released several successful albums, including "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood," "...And Then There Was X," "The Great Depression," and "Grand Champ." His music often reflected his personal struggles and experiences, with tracks like "Slippin'" and "Party Up (Up in Here)" becoming anthems for many.
