Earl Tywone Stevens Sr., better known by his stage name E-40, is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and actor born on November 15, 1967, in Vallejo, California.

Raised by a hardworking single mother who juggled three jobs, E-40 developed a strong work ethic from a young age. He became interested in hip hop after hearing "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang and started rapping in the fourth grade.

E-40 graduated from Hogan High School in 1985 and briefly attended Grambling State University before dropping out to pursue a music career.

E-40 began his rap career in 1986 with his cousin B-Legit, sister Suga-T, and brother D-Shot in the group Most Valuable Players, which later became The Click. The group released their debut EP, "Let's Side," in 1990, and E-40 founded his own label, Sick Wid It Records, to release their music.

His solo career took off with the release of his 1995 album "In a Major Way," which brought him mainstream recognition. Over the years, E-40 has released 27 studio albums and collaborated with numerous mainstream artists, including Lil Jon, T-Pain, and Big Sean.

E-40 has also ventured into various business endeavors, including wine-making and food chains. He is also known for his unique slang and fast rapping style, earning him the nickname "Charlie Hustle."
