Elaine Hendrix, born Katherine Elaine Hendrix on December 28, 1970, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is an American actress known for her versatile roles in both television and film. Her father was serving in the Vietnam War when she was born, and her mother named her Katherine Elaine.

She grew up in Oak Ridge and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with her mother after her parents divorced. She attended the Northside School of Performing Arts in Atlanta, where she trained in modern dancing and jazz.

Before transitioning to acting, she had a successful career as a professional dancer and model. She worked with companies like Nike, Levi's, Mattel, and Sun Microsystems, and appeared in music videos for hip-hop artists such as Whodini, Keith Sweat, and MC Hammer.

However, her early career was cut short when she was hit by a car while riding her bike in Los Angeles in 1992. After recovering from her injuries, she decided to focus on acting and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her new career.
