Elisabeth Röhm was born on April 28, 1973, in Düsseldorf, West Germany, to Lisa Loverde, an American scriptwriter, and Eberhard Röhm, a German partner at the law firm of Duane Morris LLP in New York.

Her family moved to New York City before her first birthday, and she grew up with a rich cultural background, including an Italian immigrant grandfather. She attended St. Andrew's-Sewanee School in Tennessee for grades 11 and 12 before graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in 1996 with a B.A. in European history.

Elisabeth Röhm began her career in television in 1997 with a role in the soap opera "One Life to Live" and quickly gained recognition for her performance in the BBC Northern Ireland miniseries "Eureka Street" in 1999.

She is best known for her roles as Detective Kate Lockley in the TV series "Angel" from 1999 to 2001 and Assistant District Attorney Serena Southerlyn in "Law & Order" from 2001 to 2005. Her career continued to flourish with appearances in films such as "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous" (2005), "American Hustle" (2013), "Joy" (2015), and "Bombshell" (2019).

Elisabeth Röhm has also ventured into directing, making her directorial debut with the Lifetime film "Girl in the Basement" in 2021. Her personal life has seen its share of changes, including two marriages.

She was married to Ron Anthony Wooster from 2008 until their divorce in 2014, and she is currently married to Peter Glatzer, whom she wed in 2021.
