She is an American actress best known for her roles in films such as "The Karate Kid" (1984), "Adventures in Babysitting" (1987), "Cocktail" (1988), "Back to the Future Part II" (1989), "Back to the Future Part III" (1990), "Leaving Las Vegas" (1995), "The Saint" (1997), "Hollow Man" (2000), and "Piranha 3D" (2010).

For her performance in "Leaving Las Vegas," she was nominated for the Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for Best Actress. On television, Elisabeth Shue played Julie Finlay in the CBS procedural forensics crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" from 2012 to 2015 and Madelyn Stillwell in the Amazon Prime Video satirical superhero series "The Boys" (2019-2020).

She also leads the Netflix dramedy series "On the Verge" (2021). Shue graduated from Columbia High School and later completed her B.A. in government at Harvard University in 2000.

She is married to filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, and they have three children together.
