Emily Blunt is a British actress born on February 23, 1983, in London, England. She grew up in Roehampton, South West London, as the second of four children in the family of Joanna Mackie, a former actress and teacher, and Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, a barrister. She attended Ibstock Place School and later Hurtwood House, where she studied drama.

She began her acting career in 2001 with a stage production of "The Royal Family" and made her film debut in 2004 with "My Summer of Love." She gained international recognition with her role in "The Devil Wears Prada" in 2006. She continued to build her career with notable roles in films such as "The Young Victoria" in 2009, "The Adjustment Bureau" in 2011, "Looper" in 2012, "Edge of Tomorrow" in 2014, and "Sicario" in 2015.
