J. Cole

J. Cole, born Jermaine Lamarr Cole on January 28, 1985, in Frankfurt, Germany, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he developed a passion for music at a young age. J. Cole gained initial recognition with his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in 2007.

His talent caught the attention of Jay-Z, who signed him to his record label, Roc Nation, in 2009. J. Cole released his debut studio album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, in 2011, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.

He followed this success with several critically acclaimed albums, including Born Sinner, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, 4 Your Eyez Only, KOD, and The Off-Season. Each of his studio albums has debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

J. Cole is married to Melissa Heholt, whom he met during his college years at St. John's University. The couple tied the knot in 2015 and has two sons. J. Cole's mother, Kay Cole, played a significant role in his upbringing, while his father, a former US soldier, was absent for much of his life. He also has an older brother named Zach Cole.
