Janet Varney, born on February 16, 1976, in Tucson, Arizona, is an American actress, comedian, writer, and producer. She is best known for voicing the character of Korra in the Nickelodeon animated television series "The Legend of Korra," as well as her roles in "You're the Worst" and "Stan Against Evil."

She has also hosted the popular podcast "The JV Club" since 2012 and is a co-founder of the SF Sketchfest, a comedy festival in San Francisco. Growing up in a Mormon household, she  left the church at 17 and now identifies as agnostic.

She graduated as salutatorian from Rincon High School in 1993 and later attended San Francisco State University, where she majored in theater. After a brief stint in interior design, she returned to acting and has since built a diverse career in television, film, and podcasting.

She made her television debut in 2004 on the Comedy Central show "Crossballs" and has since appeared in numerous TV series, including "Bones," "Better Off Ted," "How I Met Your Mother," and "Psych." She has had recurring roles in shows like "Entourage," "Burning Love," and "Country Comfort."

In addition to her on-screen work, Varney has also been involved in creating and producing content, such as the web series "Fortune Rookie" and the improvised space podcast "Voyage to the Stars."
