Jean Acker, born Harriet Ackers on October 23, 1892, in Trenton, New Jersey, was an American actress whose career spanned from the silent film era through the 1950s. She was best known as the estranged wife of silent film star Rudolph Valentino. Raised on a farm, she became an expert horsewoman and attended St. Mary's Seminary in Springfield, New Jersey.
Her parents, Joseph and Margaret Ackers, divorced when she was young, and her father remarried twice, managing several businesses in the Philadelphia area.
Her acting career began in vaudeville before she moved to California in 1919. She quickly became the protégé and lover of actress Alla Nazimova, which helped her secure a $200 per week contract with a movie studio.
Jean Acker appeared in numerous films during the 1910s and 1920s, but by the early 1930s, she began taking smaller, often uncredited roles. Her final on-screen appearance was in the 1955 film "How to Be Very, Very Popular," opposite Betty Grable.
