Joanna Cameron, born Patricia Kara Cameron on September 20, 1948, was an American actress and model, widely recognized for her role as the superheroine Isis/Andrea Thomas in the 1970s live-action television series "The Secrets of Isis."

She was born in Colorado to restaurateur parents and showed early talents in music and drama during high school. She attended the University of California, Riverside, on a scholarship, where she studied drama and English.

She was discovered by a talent scout while in college, leading to a career in acting and modeling. Her first major film role was Nancy Benson in the 1969 comedy "How to Commit Marriage," which was facilitated by an introduction to comedian Bob Hope through a college friend.

Her breakthrough role came with the CBS Saturday morning television series "The Secrets of Isis" (1975-1976), where her character, Andrea Thomas, a high school science teacher who transforms into the Egyptian goddess Isis, became one of the first female superheroes to headline a live-action TV show.

The series lasted two seasons and consisted of 22 episodes, with Cameron also appearing as Isis in guest roles on the related series "Shazam!" Her portrayal was celebrated for combining intelligence, strength, and compassion, setting a precedent for future female superheroes on television.

Before her iconic role as Isis, she appeared in numerous TV guest roles, commercials (holding a Guinness World Record for the most commercials appeared in as an actress), and films, including works like "B.S. I Love You" and appearances on shows like "Marcus Welby, M.D." and "Columbo."

After leaving the entertainment industry in the early 1980s, she worked on Navy promotional videos and later became involved in healthcare and hotel marketing in Hawaii.

Though her acting career was relatively brief, her pioneering role as Isis earned her lasting recognition and acclaim. She was voted one of the "Five Most Beautiful Women in the World" by the International Academy of Beauty and was celebrated as a trailblazer for female superheroes on television.
