Johnny Depp was born to Betty Sue Palmer, a waitress, and John Christopher Depp, a civil engineer. He was raised in Florida and dropped out of school at the age of 15 to pursue music. He began his career as a musician, performing in several amateur rock bands before transitioning into film. His feature film debut was in the horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" in 1984.

Johnny Depp rose to prominence as a teen idol on the television series "21 Jump Street" from 1987 to 1990.
