Jose Solorio was born on September 28, 1970, in Michoacan, Mexico, and is a prominent American politician who served as a California State Assemblyman representing the 69th District from 2006 to 2012.

As the son of migrant farm workers, he grew up in Santa Ana, California, and overcame significant challenges to earn a Bachelor of Arts in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University.

His political career began at the local level, where he was a member of the Santa Ana City Council from 2000 to 2006, then returning to serve again from 2016 to 2020 after his state legislature tenure.

During his time in the State Assembly, he focused on education reform, public safety, infrastructure improvements, and youth violence prevention, authoring significant legislation in these areas.

Jose Solorio ran for mayor of Santa Ana in 2022 but was not elected. In recent years, he has served as a government affairs officer for the Moulton Niguel Water District and has been a California Water Commissioner since 2021.

His public service reflects his commitment to supporting the community, especially those with backgrounds similar to his own, advocating for policies that enhance education, water management, and public safety.
