She began her acting career in 1986 with a role in the ABC daytime soap opera "Loving," where she played Charlotte "Lotty" Bates Alden. Her career took off when she landed the role of April O'Neil in the 1990 film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," which became a huge success at the box office.

After her breakout role, she continued to work in television, appearing in shows like "Quantum Leap," "Melrose Place," "Roseanne," and "The X-Files."
