Julia Louis-Dreyfus, born Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus on January 13, 1961, in New York City, is an acclaimed American actress and comedian. She is widely recognized for her roles in popular television series such as Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep.

Her father, Gérard Louis-Dreyfus, was a French billionaire businessman, and her mother, Judith LeFever Bowles, is an author and special needs tutor. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she spent her childhood in Washington, D.C., and New York.

Julia met her husband, Brad Hall, while in college, and they have been married since 1987. They have two sons, Henry and Charlie.

Her career began with her performances in The Practical Theatre Company in Chicago, which led to her being cast on Saturday Night Live from 1982 to 1985. Her breakthrough role came in 1990 when she was cast as Elaine Benes on Seinfeld, a role she played for nine seasons.
