Julie Adams, born Betty May Adams on October 17, 1926, in Waterloo, Iowa, was an American actress known for her work in both film and television. She began her career in Hollywood after being crowned Miss Little Rock in 1946 and moved to California to pursue acting. Initially billed as Julia Adams, she later preferred the name Julie Adams.

Her early roles included parts in B-movie Westerns, but she soon gained recognition for her performances in more prominent films.

One of her most iconic roles was as the beautiful ichthyologist Kay Lawrence in the 1954 horror film "Creature from the Black Lagoon," where she starred opposite Richard Carlson.

Julie Adams also appeared in several other notable films of the 1950s, including "Bend of the River" with James Stewart, "The Lawless Breed" with Rock Hudson, and "The Mississippi Gambler" with Tyrone Power. Her career spanned over six decades, and she continued to work in television, appearing in shows like "Capitol," "Bonanza," and "Murder, She Wrote."

In her personal life, Julie Adams was married twice. Her first marriage was to actor Leonard Stern in 1951, which ended in divorce in 1953. She then married actor Ray Danton in 1954, and they had two children together before divorcing in 1981.

Julie Adams was known for her elegance and charm, and she maintained a strong presence in the entertainment industry until her death on February 3, 2019, at the age of 92.
