Julie Newmar is an American actress, dancer, singer, and entrepreneur who has left a lasting mark on the entertainment industry. She was born on August 16, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, as Julia Chalene Newmeyer. Her father, Don, was a professional football player and later a college professor, while her mother, Helene, was a fashion designer. 

Julie Newmar grew up in a creative environment and began studying dance and piano at an early age. She became a prima ballerina with the Los Angeles Opera when she was just fifteen years old.

She started her career in Hollywood as a dancer and choreographer, appearing in films like "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "The Band Wagon." Her striking beauty and talent soon caught the attention of filmmakers, and she transitioned into acting. 

She gained widespread fame for her role as Catwoman in the 1960s television series "Batman," where her charm and wit made her an iconic character. In her personal life, Julie Newmar was married to J. Holt Smith from 1977 to 1984, and they have a son named John Jewl Smith. Her son was born with Down syndrome, and Julie has often spoken about the unconditional love and life lessons she has learned from him.

She is also known for her entrepreneurial spirit. She invented a new design of pantyhose called "Nudemar" and has been involved in real estate investments.
