Kate Mara, born on February 27, 1983, in Bedford, New York, is an American actress known for her versatile roles in both television and film. She comes from a family deeply rooted in the NFL, with her father Timothy Christopher Mara being an NFL scout and vice president of the New York Giants, and her mother Kathleen McNulty Mara (née Rooney) having ties to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

She is the second of four siblings, with her younger sister Rooney Mara also being an actress.

Kate Mara made her film debut in "Random Hearts" (1999) and has since appeared in a variety of films including "Brokeback Mountain" (2005), "We Are Marshall" (2006), "Shooter" (2007), "The Martian" (2015), and "Fantastic Four" (2015).
