His rise to prominence came with his second album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, released in 2012. The album featured hit singles like "Swimming Pools (Drank)" and "Poetic Justice" and is considered a modern classic.

His third album, To Pimp a Butterfly, released in 2015, embraced jazz and funk influences and was highly praised for its lyrical depth and social commentary. This album earned him several Grammy Awards and solidified his status as a leading voice in hip hop.

In 2017, Kendrick Lamar released his fourth album, Damn, which included the chart-topping single "Humble." This album won the Pulitzer Prize for Music, making Lamar the first non-classical or jazz artist to receive this honor.
