Kyra Sedgwick

Kyra Sedgwick, born Kyra Minturn Sedgwick on August 19, 1965, in New York City, is an accomplished American actress, director, and producer. She is the daughter of Patricia Rosenwald, a speech therapist, and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, a venture capitalist.

Her mother was Jewish, and her father was of English descent, with many prominent ancestors, including Judge Theodore Sedgwick and educator Endicott Peabody. She attended private schools and later graduated from the University of Southern California with a theater degree.

Kyra Sedgwick began her acting career at the age of 16 on the soap opera "Another World" and quickly gained recognition for her talent. She starred in the TV film "Miss Rose White" (1992), which won her an Emmy Award, and received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the film "Something to Talk About" (1995).

However, it was her role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the TNT crime drama "The Closer" (2005-2012) that truly solidified her place in television history. For this role, she won a Golden Globe in 2007 and an Emmy Award in 2010.

In addition to her television work, Kyra Sedgwick has appeared in numerous films, including "Born on the Fourth of July" (1989), "Singles" (1992), and "Phenomenon" (1996). She has also taken on roles in more recent productions like "The Woodsman" (2004) and "The Best You Can".

Kyra Sedgwick is married to actor Kevin Bacon, and they have two children, Sosie Bacon and Travis Bacon, both of whom have followed in their parents' footsteps into the entertainment industry. The couple has been together since they met while working on the television movie "Lemon Sky" (1988).
