Laurel Holloman

Laurel Lisa Holloman was born on May 23, 1971, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is an American painter and actress best known for her role as Tina Kennard in the television series "The L Word."

She grew up in a supportive and artistic household, which nurtured her love for the arts from a young age. She has two older brothers and graduated from Saint Mary's School, an Episcopal boarding school for girls in Raleigh, in 1986. She attended the University of North Carolina, where she graduated with a degree in Performance Communication.

Laurel Holloman began her acting career in theater productions in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Chicago, and London. She moved to New York City in early 1994 and appeared in stage productions such as Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie" and Carson McCullers' "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter".

Her film career started in 1995 with her role as Randy Dean in "The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love." She worked steadily in a variety of mostly independent film roles, including "The Myth of Fingerprints," "Boogie Nights," and "Tumbleweeds."
