Lee Remick, born Lee Ann Remick on December 14, 1935, in Quincy, Massachusetts, was an American actress and singer known for her versatile performances in film, television, and theater. Her parents were Gertrude Margaret Waldo, an actress, and Francis Edwin Remick, a department store owner.

She had one older brother, Bruce, and her maternal great-grandmother, Eliza Duffield, was a preacher born in England. She attended the Swoboda School of Dance and The Hewitt School.

Lee Remick began her career on stage, making her Broadway debut at the age of 18 in the 1953 production "Be Your Age." She quickly transitioned to television, guest-starring on anthology series such as "Armstrong Circle Theatre," "Studio One in Hollywood," and "Playhouse 90."

Her film debut came in 1957 with Elia Kazan's "A Face in the Crowd," where she played a teenager who wins the attention of a character played by Andy Griffith. She gained prominence with her role as a rape victim in Otto Preminger's "Anatomy of a Murder" (1959), which was controversial for its explicit handling of sexual assault.
