Liam Neeson was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. His parents were Katherine, a cook, and Bernard Neeson, a school caretaker. He was raised in a Catholic household and named after a local priest. Liam Neeson has three sisters: Elizabeth, Bernadette, and Rosaleen.

Liam Neeson initially pursued a career in teaching and attended St. Mary's Teaching College in Newcastle. However, his passion for acting led him to join the Belfast Lyric Players' Theatre in 1976.

He later moved to Dublin's Abbey Theatre, where he performed in various plays. His film debut came with "Pilgrim's Progress," followed by roles in "Excalibur" and "The Bounty."
