Kimberly Denise Jones, better known by her stage name Lil' Kim, is an American rapper, songwriter, actress, model, and television personality. Born on July 11, 1974, in Brooklyn, New York City, Lil' Kim had a challenging upbringing, often living on the streets after being expelled from home.

Influenced by fellow female hip-hop artists like MC Lyte and the Lady of Rage, she began freestyle rapping in her teens. In 1994, she was discovered by The Notorious B.I.G., who invited her to join his group Junior M.A.F.I.A. Their debut album, "Conspiracy," generated two top 20 singles and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Her debut solo studio album, "Hard Core," was released in 1996 and became a major success, certified double platinum and spawning three successful singles: "No Time," "Not Tonight (Ladies Night)," and "Crush on You."

Her follow-up albums, "The Notorious K.I.M." (2000) and "La Bella Mafia" (2003), were also certified platinum. In 2001, she reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with the single "Lady Marmalade," a remake of LaBelle's 1974 single, alongside Christina Aguilera, Mýa, and Pink. The song won her the Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
