She attended Notre Dame High School and later graduated from Boston University in 2000 with a degree in Fine Arts, where she also studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in England.

Her acting career began with a small role in the 2001 science fiction adventure film "Jurassic Park III" as Ellie Sattler's assistant. Shortly after, she was cast as Ensign Hoshi Sato in "Star Trek: Enterprise," which aired from 2001 to 2005.
