Maggie Q, born Margaret Denise Quigley on May 22, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is an American actress and former fashion model. She is of mixed heritage, with an Irish and Polish father and a Vietnamese mother. Her parents met during the Vietnam War.

Maggie grew up in Hawaii and attended Mililani High School, where she was active in sports. She initially planned to study veterinary science but moved to Asia to pursue a modeling career due to financial constraints.

Maggie began modeling in Tokyo at the age of 17 and later moved to Hong Kong, where she adopted the stage name Maggie Q. Her acting career started in Hong Kong with the TV drama House of the Dragon in 1998.
