Mamie Van Doren, born Joan Lucille Olander on February 6, 1931, in Rowena, South Dakota, is an American actress, model, singer, and sex symbol who rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s. She is often referred to as one of the "Three M's" along with Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield.

Mamie Van Doren signed a seven-year contract with Universal in 1953, hoping to be their version of Marilyn Monroe. During her time at Universal, she starred in teen dramas, exploitation films, musicals, and comedies.

She changed her name to Mamie Van Doren, with "Van Doren" coming from Universal telling her she was more Dutch than Swedish, and "Mamie" from then First Lady Mamie Eisenhower.

Her career took off when she won Miss Palm Springs and Miss Eight Ball in 1949, which led to her being discovered by film producer Howard Hughes. She starred in several RKO films such as "His Kind of Woman" (1951), "Two Tickets to Broadway" (1951), and "Jet Pilot" (1957).

Some of her best-known movies include "Untamed Youth" (1957), "Teacher's Pet" (1958), "High School Confidential" (1958), "Born Reckless" (1958), "The Beat Generation" (1959), and "Sex Kittens Go to College" (1960).

She also made guest appearances on television shows like "What's My Line?", "The Jack Benny Program", and "The Bob Cummings Show". Outside of her professional life, she has had a colorful personal life, having been married five times. Her spouses included Jack Newman, Ray Anthony, Lee Meyers, Ross McClintock, and Thomas Dixon.
