She is the daughter of actress Andie MacDowell and former model Paul Qualley. She has an older brother, Justin, and an older sister, actress and singer Rainey Qualley.

She spent her early years on a ranch in Missoula, Montana, before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, at the age of four. Her parents separated when she was five, and she split her time between them.
