Maya Rudolph, born on July 27, 1972, in Gainesville, Florida, is an American actress and comedian known for her scene-stealing characters and impressions. She is the daughter of late singer Minnie Riperton and composer Richard Rudolph, and her godmother was R&B singer Teena Marie.

Maya Rudolph grew up primarily in Los Angeles, California, and attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she majored in photography. She later pursued a career in comedy, joining the famed troupe The Groundlings before becoming a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2000 to 2007.

During her tenure on the show, she appeared in supporting roles in films such as 50 First Dates, A Prairie Home Companion, and Idiocracy.

After leaving SNL, she continued to work in both film and television, appearing in movies like Grown Ups, Bridesmaids, Sisters, and Life of the Party, as well as providing voice acting roles in animated films such as Shrek the Third, Turbo, Big Hero 6, and The Emoji Movie.

She also starred in the NBC sitcom Up All Night and co-hosted the variety show Maya & Marty. In 2022, she began starring in the comedy series Loot, also serving as an executive producer.
