Clifford Smith, Jr., better known by his stage name Method Man, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor born on March 2, 1971, in Hempstead, New York. He is a prominent member of the East Coast hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and is also half of the hip hop duo Method Man & Redman.

He continued to build his reputation with collaborations with other artists, including the Grammy Award-winning duet "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need" with Mary J. Blige.
