Michael Christopher Fuentes, known professionally as Mike Fuentes, is an American musician born on December 14, 1984, in San Diego, California.
He is best known as the co‑founder and former drummer of the post‑hardcore band Pierce the Veil, which he formed in 2006 with his older brother, vocalist and guitarist Vic Fuentes, following the end of their earlier band Before Today.
Raised in a musical family with a father involved in jazz, he took up drums while his brother focused on guitar and vocals, and the pair began performing locally in projects that evolved from Early Times into Before Today and eventually Pierce the Veil.

With Before Today, he released the album “A Celebration of an Ending” in 2004, establishing his presence in the post‑hardcore and alternative scene.
As Pierce the Veil, he contributed drums and percussion to a series of successful studio albums, including “A Flair for the Dramatic” (2007), “Selfish Machines” (2010), “Collide with the Sky” (2012), and “Misadventures” (2016), records that helped the band gain a prominent place in American rock and on charts such as Billboard’s Heatseekers.
During this period, the band earned multiple awards and industry recognition, and he himself received notice for his energetic and technical drumming, including a Best Drummer honor at the Alternative Press Music Awards in 2014.
Outside Pierce the Veil, Fuentes expanded his work as a percussionist by joining the supergroup Isles & Glaciers, recording the EP “The Hearts of Lonely People,” which highlighted his adaptability within a collaborative studio project. He also developed a hip‑hop‑oriented solo career under the stage name MikeyWhiskeyHands, rapping over instrumentals produced by Pierce the Veil bassist Jaime Preciado and signing with Velocity Records in 2012 to release a series of tracks and collaborations.
This venture emphasized his interest in crossing genre boundaries and experimenting with rhythmic styles beyond rock and post‑hardcore.
Fuentes left Pierce the Veil in 2017 and has since focused on his solo work and other musical activities away from his former band. Over the course of his career, he has become associated with the energetic, emotionally charged sound of mid‑2000s and 2010s post‑hardcore while also cultivating an image as a versatile drummer and performer comfortable in both band settings and individual projects.
