Nana Visitor, born Nana Tucker on July 26, 1957, in New York City, is an American actress best known for her role as Major Kira Nerys in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She adopted the stage name "Nana Visitor" in the early 1980s, and later had her name legally changed to "Visitor".

Her parents, Nenette Charisse and Robert Tucker, were both involved in the arts, with her mother being a ballet teacher and her father a choreographer. Nana Visitor is also the niece of actress/dancer Cyd Charisse.

Nana Visitor began her acting career on Broadway in the 1970s, appearing in productions such as My One and Only. Her film debut came in the 1977 horror film The Sentinel, where she was billed by her birth name.

Over the years, she has appeared in numerous television series, including Ivan the Terrible, Ryan's Hope, The Doctors, and One Life to Live. She also had guest roles in shows like MacGyver, Remington Steele, Knight Rider, and Night Court.

In 1993, Nana Visitor landed her most iconic role as Major Kira Nerys on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a role she played until 1999. Her portrayal of the former freedom fighter from the planet Bajor earned her critical acclaim and several awards, including two Online Film & Television Association Awards for Best Actress in a Syndicated Series and four Primetime Emmy Awards.

Nana Visitor has been married three times. Her first marriage was to Nick Miscusi from 1989 to 1994, with whom she has a son, Buster Miscusi. She then married Star Trek: Deep Space Nine co-star Alexander Siddig in 1997, and they had a son, Django El Tahir El Siddig, in 1996.

The couple divorced in 2001. Her current husband is Matthew Rimmer, and they have been married since 2003.
