Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, known professionally as Nicki Minaj, is a Trinidadian-born rapper and singer based in the United States. Often referred to as the "Queen of Rap", she is known for her musical versatility, animated rap flow, and alter egos.

Born on December 8, 1982, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Nicki Minaj moved to Queens, New York, when she was about five years old. She first gained recognition after releasing three mixtapes between 2007 and 2009. Her debut album, "Pink Friday" (2010), topped the US Billboard 200 chart.

Her career has been marked by a series of successful albums and singles. Her single "Super Bass" reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and was later certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Her collaboration "Bang Bang" (2014) with Ariana Grande and Jessie J became the first female collaboration to be certified diamond. Nicki Minaj married Kenneth Petty in 2019. They welcomed their first child, a son, in late 2020. They publicly refer to their son as "Papa Bear", never revealing his real name.

Before her marriage to Petty, she had relationships with fellow rappers Meek Mill and Nas. She also dated Safaree Samuels for over a decade.
