Nydia Westman was an American actress and singer born on February 19, 1902, in New York City. She was the daughter of vaudevillian parents, Theodore Westman, an actor-composer, and Lily Wren, an actress-playwright.

Nydia Westman was thrust into the limelight at an early age as part of the family act "Troubles of Joy." She attended the Professional Children's School and performed on stage with her family until 1921. Her Broadway debut came in 1924 with the comedy "Pigs," and she continued to be a mainstay in New York theater throughout the late 1920s.

Her screen debut came in 1932 with the film "Strange Justice," and she appeared in 31 films during the 1930s. She was known for her versatility, taking on roles in dramas like "Success at Any Price" and "Craig's Wife," as well as comedies such as "Ladies Should Listen" and "The Cat and the Canary."
