Olivia Wilde, born Olivia Jane Cockburn on March 10, 1984, in New York City, is an American actress, director, and producer. She grew up in Washington, D.C., and spent her summers in Ireland, giving her a rich cultural upbringing.

She adopted her surname in honor of Irish writer Oscar Wilde, a name she started using in high school. She studied at the prestigious Phillips Academy in Massachusetts and the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. 

Her career began in 2003 with a role in the television series "Skin," and she gained widespread recognition for her role as Alex Kelly on "The O.C.". She is best known for her role as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley on the medical drama "House" from 2007 to 20121.

Her filmography includes notable movies like "Tron: Legacy," "Cowboys & Aliens," "Her," and "The Lazarus Effect." In 2019, she made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed teen comedy "Booksmart," which won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.

She followed this success with the thriller "Don't Worry Darling" in 2022, in which she also starred. 

Her personal life has been equally eventful. She was married to Italian filmmaker Tao Ruspoli from 2003 to 2011, and later dated actor Jason Sudeikis. She and Sudeikis have two children together, Otis and Daisy.

Throughout her career, she has received several awards and nominations, including the Comedy Festival Award for Best Actress for "Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas".
