She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington and began her acting career in the late 1970s. Pamela is known for her versatile roles in both film and television, including her performance as Arnold Schwarzenegger's hypoglycemic police partner in the 1990 film "Kindergarten Cop" and as the matriarch Gail Green in the TV series "Jericho."

She also appeared as Marlene Griggs-Knope on the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation."

In her personal life, Pamela Reed is married to director Sandy Smolan, and they have two adopted children, Reed and Lily. Pamela met Sandy when he directed her in the TV movie "Rachel River," and they tied the knot in 1988.
