She began her career in theatre, appearing on Broadway and in local theatre companies in Connecticut and Kentucky before making her film debut in Monte Hellman's "Cockfighter" (1974).
Patricia Pearcy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1967 and later acquired an MFA in directing from the same institution. She also studied acting with Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
