Patricia Wettig, born on December 4, 1951, in Milford, Ohio, is an accomplished American actress and playwright. She grew up in Grove City, Pennsylvania, as one of four daughters of Clifford Neal Wettig, a high school basketball coach, and Florence Wettig.

Patricia Wettig attended Ohio Wesleyan University and later graduated from Temple University with a degree in drama. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Fine Arts in playwriting from Smith College in 2001.

She began her career on stage, working as a personal dresser for Shirley MacLaine and performing with New York's Circle Repertory Company. Her television career took off with roles in popular 1980s dramas such as "Remington Steele," "Hill Street Blues," and "L.A. Law".

She gained widespread recognition for her role as Nancy Weston in the television series "Thirtysomething" (1987-1991), for which she won three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.
