Paul Anthony Gosar, born on November 27, 1958, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, is an American politician and dentist who has been serving as the U.S. Representative for Arizona's 9th congressional district since 2023. Before that, he represented Arizona's 4th congressional district from 2013 to 2023 and Arizona's 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2013. He is a Republican and has been known for his far-right political views.

Paul Gosar comes from a large family; he is the eldest of seven sons and three daughters. His paternal grandparents were Slovenian, and his maternal grandparents were Basque immigrants from Banca, on the Franco-Spanish border. Raised in Pinedale, Wyoming, he graduated from Pinedale High School in 1977. His parents were devoted Republicans who attended the national conventions for former presidents Richard M. Nixon and Gerald Ford.

His brother, Pete, is a former chairman of the Wyoming Democratic Party and has run for governor of Wyoming.

Before entering politics, he practiced dentistry for 25 years in Flagstaff, Arizona. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University in 1981 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1985. Paul Gosar married Maude Connor in 1988, and they have three children together.

In Congress, Paul Gosar has been a strong advocate for conservative policies, including opposing the Affordable Care Act, abortion, gun control, and immigration. He has also been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and voted to overturn the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

His controversial actions, such as posting a video depicting himself as a character from "Attack on Titan" killing a Titan with the superimposed face of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, led to his censure by the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2021. However, he was restored to his committee assignments in January 2023 after Republicans won control of the House in the 2022 elections.

Paul Gosar serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. He has been recognized for his legislative successes and has managed to pass several bills into law, including the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange Act and the Grand Canyon Tourism Jobs Protection Act.
