Ray Romano

Ray Romano, born Raymond Albert Romano on December 21, 1957, in Queens, New York, is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. He is best known for his role as Raymond "Ray" Barone on the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, which aired from 1996 to 2005.

His humor is often drawn from his experiences growing up in a middle-class Italian-American family in Queens. He attended Hillcrest High School and briefly studied accounting at Queens College before pursuing a career in comedy.

His career began in the late 1980s when he started performing stand-up comedy in New York clubs. His big break came in 1995 when he appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, which led to the creation of Everybody Loves Raymond.

The show was a massive success and earned Romano three Primetime Emmy Awards. He also voiced the character of Manny the woolly mammoth in the Ice Age film series, which further cemented his popularity.

In addition, Romano created and starred in the TNT comedy-drama Men of a Certain Age from 2009 to 2011. He also had a recurring role on the NBC series Parenthood from 2012 to 2015 and co-starred in the romantic comedy The Big Sick in 2017.

His film career includes roles in The Irishman, Paddleton, and Bad Education. He has received several awards and nominations, including two Grammy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

Ray Romano married his wife, Anna Scarpulla, in 1987, and they have four children: Alexandra, Matthew, Gregory, and Joseph. His family life has often been a source of inspiration for his comedy. His brothers, Richard and Robert, have also been featured in his work. Richard is a sergeant with the NYPD, and Robert is a second-grade teacher in New York City.

Throughout his career, Ray Romano has been recognized for his contributions to comedy and television. He won the César Award for Best Actor for his performance in Notre histoire in 1985.
