Retta, born Marietta Sangai Sirleaf on April 12, 1970, in Newark, New Jersey, is an American stand-up comedian and actress. She is best known for her roles as Donna Meagle on NBC's "Parks and Recreation" and Ruby Hill on NBC's "Good Girls."

She grew up in Edison and the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen Township, New Jersey, and attended Matawan Regional High School, graduating in 1988. She later graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in 1992, with a degree in sociology and a pre-medical degree.

Retta began her career as a chemist but soon discovered her passion for comedy. She started performing stand-up in 1996 and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. She has performed on shows like "Premium Blend" on Comedy Central and "The Soup" on E! Entertainment Television.
